Before I entered into the unknown realm of practice retirement, I would’ve been thrilled that today is Friday. At this point, I get my days mixed up and it’s not because I’m old.
It’s liberating!
I no longer feel obligated to get up at a certain time and take a seat behind my computer to check email. My morning ritual is gone. My goal was that all customers and prospects receive attention immediately. Of course, that’s still paramount — but I’ve realized that I can’t work 9-5 on every timezone in the world.
Wonder Woman has entered full blown retirement mode.
Even if I choose to resume my position at the end of the summer, I’m making a vow to never again feel responsible for every detail. That mentality sets one up for failure when tasks aren’t delegated to others for completion.
No matter my direction moving forward, work-life balance — especially at my age and stage of life — must remain #1 on my priority list.
