Perry was already working on Christmas morning when my phone rang.
Ben: What time are you doing breakfast?
Me: I’ll make breakfast for you whenever you want it.
Ben: I’m almost there.
He came in his pajamas and kicked me out of my computer chair. No need for a coat… notice the window is open? It was a rainy but warm day for Christmas in Indiana. You may also notice how dirty the dog bed is in the photo above. Nothing you can do about that when you have big dogs that must patrol the yard.
All at once?
After breakfast, we played ‘Return of the Obra Dinn‘ for a bit until he MADE me watch a movie that he said was brilliant. One of the best movies of all time, he said. It won an Oscar for best picture plus 6 other awards including 3 of the 4 acting awards. You guessed it — Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.
My brain simply isn’t wired for the abstract. I get the point… sort of… but it’s one weird ass movie. I’m not great at watching movies in general. I got in trouble more than once for texting — and I caught Ben giving me the side-eye several times to see if I was paying attention. 🙄
I did appreciate it all a whole lot more when I found out Michelle Yeoh is 61 years-old and I listened to her acceptance speech for Best Actress in the movie. You can watch it here.
